Emerge (http://emer.ge) is a digital product agency, located in the heart of Portland, OR.

What makes us truly unique in the agency world is that we’re not marketers or advertisers. We strategize, design, and develop digital business products for customers, from mobile applications to sales enablement tools, IoT interfaces, and so much more.

We’re looking for an UX Design Architect to join our Experience Design team as we refine existing and create new digital product solutions for our clients.

The perfect individual for this role will be able to leverage findings and insights gained from our research and strategy work to establish and produce key user flows, journeys & scenarios, and clickable prototypes as wireframes. Using these assets the UX Design Architect will work closely with our UI Designer to build a complete visual system for the product we’re creating.

As a UX Design Architect at Emerge you will

  • Assess provided research and strategy findings to formulate recommendations for improving user experiences, performance and/or interactions.

  • Design and develop client-friendly deliverables such as user journeys, scenarios, flows, sitemaps, low and medium level fidelity (prototyped) wireframes, interaction annotations and mappings, and information flow schematics.

  • Take on and own specific information architecture refinement and creation processes, including content inventories, content audits, and working with our development team to establish the relevant taxonomies necessary to build proper requirements documentation.

  • Create UX solutions for multiple concurrent client projects ranging from mobile applications to CMS-based websites, custom business systems and tools, and microsites.

  • Be able to present and articulate your UX solutions to a variety of client roles across a diverse range of industries — from marketing teams to product teams and c-level executives.

  • Work closely with the producer team to meet critical deliverable milestones and key deadlines.

  • Share your findings with the creative and technical directors and work with project teams to create unified solutions that best serve both the user and our client’s business needs.

  • Be a team player. We collaborate and iterate together every step of the way and have no room for ego.

  • 3-5 years of professional UX design architecture experience (outside of and beyond UX bootcamps or educational programs) with similar responsibilities. Bonus if you have worked in an agency setting or have experience servicing multiple clients at one time.

  • Clear and articulate client presentation, communication, and writing skills.

  • A portfolio that demonstrates your professional history and experience with creating user journeys, scenarios, flows, sitemaps, low and medium level fidelity prototyped wireframes, interaction annotations and mappings, and information flow schematics.

  • An understanding of HTML5, iOS, Android platform limitations and opportunities is preferred (but you don’t need to be a developer).

  • Experience with more advanced UX prototyping and wireframing tools such as Axure RP is not a requirement, but highly preferred.

What you would receive:

  • Work in a great office (with awesome people) in the heart of downtown’s West End (https://www.emergeinteractive.com/insights/detail/our-new-portland-creative-office).

  • A relaxed, fun working environment with a generous work from home policy.

  • Room for professional growth and freedom to explore new technologies with an educational allowance.

  • Benefits package includes PTO, Health Care, Retirement, Maternity/Paternity Leave.

To apply:

  • Submit your resume at http://careers.emergeinteractive.com/

  • Include a portfolio of relevant work.

  • Answer these two questions in the application:

    • In your opinion, what makes a great user experience?

    • Who has recently developed a phenomenal website or other digital product? What makes it great?
