Emerge (http://emer.ge) is a digital product & service agency, located in the heart of Portland, OR.

What makes us truly unique in the agency world is that we’re not marketers or advertisers. We strategize, design, and develop digital business products for customers, from mobile applications to sales enablement tools, IoT interfaces, and so much more.

We’re looking for an incredibly talented and thoughtful UI/UX Designer to join the creative team. Working closely with the Creative Director and User Experience Designer — you’ll take user flows, journeys, scenarios, low-fidelity wireframes and more, and refine the visual architecture to create stunning user interface environments that users will find easy-to-use and delightful to interact with.

If you have a great-looking portfolio, strong communication skills, a can-do attitude, and you are looking for a high-energy environment that celebrates design thinking and the customer experience — consider joining our team!

Our UI/UX Designer:

  • Develops simple and elegant design approaches to complex user stories, interface challenges and real-world problems.

  • Works with the UX Designer to refine the visual architecture and help contribute to the overall UX process when helpful or necessary.

  • Creates exploratory visual design options to show how wireframes translate to branded user interface environments.

  • Extends conceptual designs to comprehensive end-to-end visual design systems that account for micro-interactions, error-states, user transitions, and more.

  • Maintains a digital style guide for each product to assist with development.

  • Is just as comfortable tackling production level visual and UI design when called for as applying critical design thinking skills.

Skills:

  • 3 years experience in user interface design with a general understanding of UX process and methodology.

  • Portfolio of successfully launched projects that demonstrate strategic, conceptual and creative thinking.

  • Advanced proficiency in Sketch and prototyping tools such as Marvel or InVision.

  • Experience presenting designs, findings, and conceptual ideas with rationale directly to clients.

  • Demonstrated thought leadership (published blog links, etc) in the following domains: product design, commerce, mobile, branding, retail, and social media, is a plus.

  • Experience with interaction prototyping tools like Principle or Adobe After Effects is a plus.

Personal Skills:

  • Capable of handling two or more projects at any given time with various project leads.

  • Open to collaborating actively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. In fact, you’re excited for the opportunity to work with other team members in order to envision concepts and transform ideas into reality.

  • Receptive to design feedback from staff and clients alike.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Interested and informed about emerging technologies; follows trends and opportunities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

What you would receive:

  • Work in a great office (with awesome people) in the heart of downtown’s West End (https://www.emergeinteractive.com/insights/detail/our-new-portland-creative-office).

  • A relaxed, fun working environment with a generous work from home policy.

  • Room for professional growth and freedom to explore new technologies with an educational allowance.

  • Benefits package includes PTO, Health Care, Retirement, Maternity/Paternity Leave.
